Lake Area Animal Hospital offers digital radiography, an extremely effective and essential diagnostic tool for veterinarians because it is painless, safe, non-invasive, and it provides a digital picture of the problem area quickly and without the need for numerous retakes. In the event of an accident or possible broken bones, digital radiology technology allows our veterinarians to diagnose your pet’s condition immediately and provide the proper treatment.

The images produced through this digital technique help our veterinarians assess the status of injuries or diseases that may be affecting your pet. We use it to locate foreign objects, detect masses such as tumors, measure organ size for disease, diagnose pneumonia, discover pregnancies, bladder stones, chronic arthritis, and certain spinal cord diseases. We also have digital dental radiography that enables us to identify tooth root changes (like abscesses) and alveolar bone loss, and it gives us the opportunity to discover teeth that are painful or require extraction.

Digital radiography can provide images much faster and with greater clarity than traditional x-rays. The images also can be manipulated, enhanced, and contrasted, allowing our doctors to diagnose a condition more accurately. Additionally, we can share images instantly with board certified veterinary radiologists and specialists for consultation if required.
